Τετραένα η λευκή
Etymology of Tetraena alba: The female name of the genus Tetraena derives from the Ancient Greek "τετράενος" [tetraenos], in male form, which means "4 year old", which is probably a reference to its lifespan. "Alba" is Latin and it refers to its white flowers.
Tetraena alba is the only species (kind) that is found in the Cypriot habitat.
Tetraena alba is a succulent-leafed dwarf shrub or subshrub growing at the best occasion 50cm tall and spreading. It is a plant that grows close to the beach or coastally, whatever that altitude may be. The specimen of the photographs was found in Pissouri on extremely rocky ground next to the sea, and in Lady's Mile beach, Akrotiri, both in the Limassol district. Tetraena alba in Cyprus is encountered all around the island. Its flowering period is between April and May.
Synonyms: It is also called Zygophyllum album and Zygophyllum aegyptium.
