Vicia peregrina

This is another Vicia species, of the many that exist in Cyprus. Is is encountered all around Cyprus at an altitude of up to 975 metres. It is very similar to the Vicia palaestina but a main difference is that the flowers’ branch on palestina is pretty long and could support multiple flowers, whilst in peregrina it is short and supports a single flower around equal in length. Peregrina flowers are larger than palaestina. “Peregrina” in Latin means “foreigner” or “pilgrim”.
