Anagyris foetida
Αρκολουφκιά, Βρωμολουφκιά, Αναγύρς η δύσοσμη
Bushy plant common in the regions of Limassol, Paphos and Kyrenia. It is the only Anagyris species in Cyprus, so it is easy to distinguish in the Cypriot nature. The amount of its flowers approach the quantity of an Astragalus plant but this one’s flowers are more than that, plus it resembles to a short tree rather than to a plant. It is encountered at an altitude of up to 1225 metres. “Foetida” in Latin means “smelly”, hence in Cypriot dialect it is called “Βρωμολουφκιά” (smelly black eyed pea plant).
