Σκαβιόζα η κυπριακή
Etymology of Scabiosa cyprica: "Scabiosa", the name of the genus derives from Medieval Latin "scabiosus", meaning "scabious", alluding to the plant’s supposed ability to cure cutaneous diseases and as remedies for relief from scabies. The epithet "cyprica" [cypriot] was given to the plant because it was found in Cyprus.
There are five Scabiosa kinds/species in the Cypriot habitat.
Also known as Lomelosia cyprica, Scabiosa cyprica is an indigenous, endemic, common plant primarily of the Troodos and Limassol regions. It appears at an altitude of 50 up to 1150 metres.
