Cerastium glomeratum

Κεράστιον το συμπαγές

Etymology of Cerastium glomeratum: The name of the genus, "Cerastium", comes from the Ancient Greek word ''κέρας" [keras], meaning horn, referring to the horn-like shape of the seed capsule. Latin "glomeratum" means "to wind or form into a ball, glomerated, clustered", in reference to the tightly arranged and continuous flower clusters on the inflorescence.

Around 7 Cerastium kinds (6 species and a subspecies) are believed to exist in the wild Cypriot habitat.

Cerastium glomeratum is an uncommon plant in Cypriot nature. It is believed to exist all around the island except for the southeastern part, up to an altitude of 1225 metres. Its long flowering period counts from January until June.
