Turritis laxa
Τουρρίτις λάξα
There is only one Turritis species in Cyprus and it is this one. Although its leaves are usually green, this one found on a pile of volcanic rocks has dark mauve leaves, but they are exactly like the ones of the laxa species, as well as its flowers. It blooms from February to June and it is found on the Troodos region in Cyprus, at an altitude of 600-1900 metres. “Turritus” in Latin means “tower-shaped” and “laxa” means “loose”.
