Αμουρέττα, Ρεσέδα η μινωική
Etymology of Reseda minoica: The name of the genus, "Reseda", derives from the Latin prefix "re-" meaning "again" and the verb "sedo", meaning "to calm down, allay", referring to the healing properties of the plant. Latinized "minoica" means "Minoic", and its a tribute to the relevant ancient civilization of the island of Crete (Greece), where it was initially recorded.
There are at least 5 Reseda species/taxa in the wild habitat of Cyprus.
Reseda minoica, even though it is an uncommon plant to see, it can be encountered all around Cyprus up to a maximum altitude of 600 metres; this excludes central mountainous Cyprus. Its flowering period is between February and May.
