Etymology of Erucaria hispanica: The etymology of the name of the genus, "Erucaria", is unknown. The species was named "hispanica" following the belief that it originated in Spain.
This is the only Erucaria kind (species) which is encountered in the Cypriot wild habitat.
Erucaria hispanica is an uncommon plant in Cyprus. It is encountered all around Cyprus except for the northeastern part, up to an altitude of 375 metres. It primarily grows on unfertile ground, cultivated fields, and grassy or shrubby vegetation. Its flowering period is between January and June.
