Enarthrocarpus arcuatus

Εναρθρόκαρπος ο τοξωτός

Etymology of Enarthrocarpus arcuatus: The name of the genus, "Enarthrocarpus", derives from the Ancient Greek "ἔναρθρος" [enarthros], meaning "jointed", and "καρπός'' [karpos], meaning "fruit", hence "jointed fruit", referring to the seedpod. The Latin "arcuatus" means "bow-liked, bend like a bow", probably referring to the seedpod (fruit) which bends as it develops.

There are two Enarthrocarpus taxa that are found in Cyprus.

Enarthrocarpus arcuatus is a very rare plant in Cyprus, it is actually endangered to extinction. It appears coastally in southwestern, southeastern and northeastern Cyprus, up to an altitude of 25 metres. Its flowering period is between January and May.
