Echium angustifolium subsp. angustifolium

“Echium” comes from the Greek “έχιδνα” which means “viber”, as the shape of the fruit resembles a viber’s head. There are 6 Echium species in Cyprus and this is a very common one, it is found all around the island. It bears pink to blue flowers that bloom between March and July. The plant reaches a height of around 60cm and it appears as high as up to 900 metres in altitude. It is drought tolerant.
