Λεοντόδοντας ο κονδυλώδης
Etymology of Lentodon tuberosus: "Leontodon" derives from the Ancient Greek words "λέων + ὀδούς" [leon + odous] which mean "lion tooth", because of its toothed leaves (pinnatifid leaves). "Tuberosus" in Latin means "tuberous" for its tuberous roots.
This is the one and only Leontodon species that is encountered in Cyprus.
Leontodon tuberosus is a very common plant of Cyprus, which is seen in all the regions of the island. Leontodon tuberosus appears at an altitude of 0-1225 metres, on waste ground, shrubby hillsides, roadsides and sandy places. It blooms from February until May.
