Κρουπίνα η κρουπίναστρος
Etymology of Crupina crupinastrum: The meaning of the genus's name "Crupina" is unknown, as it has no roots in the Ancient Greek or Latin vocabulary. "Astrum" derives from Ancient Greek "ἀστήρ" [astir], "άστρο" [astro] in Modern Greek, which means "star".
Crupina crupinastrum is the only kind of the genus that exists in the wild Cypriot habitat.
Crupina crupinastrum is a relatively uncommon plant in Cyprus, despite the fact that it can be encountered all around the island, up to an altitude of 1225 metres. It mostly grows on rocky ground and in open forests. The plant can reach from 20-80 cm tall. Its flowering period is between April and May.
