Anthemis rigida

'Αγρια μαργαρίτα, Άνθεμις η τραχεία

Etymology of Anthemis rigida: Named "Anthemis" after the ancient Greeks and Romans. "Rigida" in Latin is the female that means "stiff, rigid".

There are at least 10 Anthemis species and subspecies in the wild Cypriot habitat.

Anthemis rigida is very easy to distinguish from the rest of the Anthemis species because simply put, the flower has no white petals. It is encountered only coastally on sandy and rocky soil near the sea, or on fallow fields up to an altitude of 150 metres, almost all around Cyprus (excluding the Pafos Forest coast and the Famagusta coast). Anthemis rigida blooms from February until May.
